They will actually sell them to you for $2 (or at least thats what it is where i live. You could ask your theater for your prices). Most of the posters however end up in the projection room with the old preview reels in a bigg box. Chances that you find one in the trash are VERYYY small. And yes, employees do often get first dibs and take them home. (:

The ones that are not required to be returned are gobbled up my the management first, and pee-ons second. You will never find them in the trash.

Keep them or sell them or give them away, It all depends on what ones they are!!

USUALLY THE MANAGERS KEEP THEM.

The posters and standees are technically the movie studios property, but the staff usually get first dibs on them. A lot of them are even sold on eBay. Your best bet on getting that stuff is to know one of the employees well.

My nephew worked for a 30 screen multiplex, and I got so much stuff from him, I had to throw tons of it away.

One of the local theaters sells some of them and then gives the money raised to charities. My hubby has a ton of posters, and the movie name banners that they put over the theater door that is lite from behind, from one of those sales.
