I’m a broke college student that would LOVE to plaster her wall with movie posters. since i don’t have much money, i was wondering if i could just take the photos of movie posters from the internet and have them printed out somewhere in a large size, like kinkos or something. ive been looking at poster sites online, but theyre pretty much too expensive. so….is it possible??

I met someone

I guessed his very unusual name spelling. (He told me it phonetically)

I mentioned an obscure movie and on the same night we went to his apartment and there was that very movie – an original poster – framed on his wall.

We called each other about six times in exactly the same instant – in the first few weeks of meeting.

I write for a UK magazine and I wrote an article for this month’s magazine about two of his friends and the editor unwittingly set my article up against an article about pet dogs.

My friend lost his dog a few weeks ago.

My new friend and I traded driving licenses to have a look at each others’ photos and we have the same last name.

Can the odds be calculated mathematically?

If not exactly calculated, does this seem overly coincidental?
to the answerer below:

I guessed the spelling of his first name on the first night we met and then three months later we traded driving licenses and we discovered we have the same last name
As to the question below posed by an answerer:

Yes About ten times I would pick upmy mobile and he would be calling me at exactly the same time and/or I would be texting him. I am aware that I may be reading a little too much into it but I wouldn’t be posing this question if I wasn’t a little taken aback by the coincidences.

What got me thinking about this was a question about kata and kumite that was posted by Shihan. The question is here if you want to see it.

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AnG718EHgvH6dsFXRn0ucrUjzKIX;_ylv=3?qid=20100720071002AAj3SCD

From what I gathered, kata is ‘realistic training’ and kumite is sparring. I noticed that we do not in fact do any of this when training. It seems that most muay thai gyms focus on training for ring fighting rather than self defence. Here are a few of my own pointers.

We have a separate class for what we call ‘kata’. This is just the syllabus, and is only needed for grading, the class is optional. When we practice the kata it is all done with a partner, SLOWLY and without any force. I think the main aim of this is just so you can remember the name and movement of the kata so that you can demonstrate it in grading, rather than applying it in a real attack. Here are examples of what I mean by kata and what we practice in the separate class.

A lot if this I can recognise, and is used in the ring, however the rest we don’t use either because its too slow, impractical or illegal (like the circled flying headbutt lol).

Another point is the lack of lethality compared to other martial arts (even though muay thai is brutal). I see questions on here about ’secrets’ and going back the the question by Shihan there are certain techniques that are banned from normal sparring (I may be overestimating other martial arts here, still better to overestimate than under, I’d rather not offend anyone =D). The most lethal technique I can think of in muay thai is an elbow or a knee to the face. This would most likely result in a KO (and a sore face), but I doubt that it would actually kill someone. Do you see what I mean? although Muay thai is brutal, ring fighting techniques are not supposed to kill your opponent. I think this is quite limiting, as I could spend a lifetime learning muay thai and only studying ring techniques without knowing that there are techniques for outside the ring.

In my opinion Muay thai is a sport, if I went to a Muay thai gym for self defence, they would still teach me how to fight in the ring, rather than on the streets. I think Muay thai can only be called a martial art because it came from Muay boran, which was a martial art designed to kill. Muay thai is like a newer, more modern version of muay boran with rules. Its just like boxing, boxing is considered a sport, and you are taught to fight in the ring. Whats the difference between Muay thai and boxing? is it because Muay thai came from a martial art?

Phew, a LOT of thought went into this question, took me 45 mins to write. But in the end I think I worked it out for myself. I dont even know why I’m posting this question now, it seems so obvious now I think about it. Still can someone confirm or correct my thoughts? Thanks for reading.

I want to upgrade from a kodak 4 MP to an SLR that would be able to take high speed photos for motor sports as well as take some outdoor scenic pictures.I would like to be able to blow up some pictures to poster size. Any suggestions for camera and lens packages for a novice would be great.

I’m live in the UK & would like one of Terry’s photos blown up into a poster, but I’m almost certain I’d be breaching some sort of copyright law if I got this done myself. Is there a legitimate way of doing this?

Like This:

500 Days of Summer

Except that they’re usually hung up, and made of a heavy paper or something?
Thanks:)

Except that they’re the ones that are always hanging.

From Christian point of view, what is wrong with hanging a photo or poster of beloved pet or some one you admire from sports figure or musicians on the wall? What about your children and family photo displaying? Are they all being considered as an IDOL ? How about figure of Cross sign or Jesus painting hanging on the wall?

And how do you describe worship ?

Are there do and don’t from Christian point of view? I see NO PROBLEM hanging photos of pets, family, Cross, Jesus paintings, movie stars and sports hero that you admire hanging on the wall.
